PM Vikasit Bharat Rojgar Yojana: 3.5 crore jobs, budget of Rs 1 lakh crore

On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the country’s biggest employment scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Vikasit Bharat Rojgar Yojana‘ (PMVBRY) from the Red Fort. Under this scheme, the government has set a target of creating more than 3.5 crore jobs in the next two years, for which a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore has been fixed. This is the same ‘Employment Linked Incentive Scheme’, which was given the green signal by the Union Cabinet on 1 July 2025.

How will you get the benefit of the scheme?

The benefit of this scheme (PMVBRY) will be available only on new jobs created between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2027. For this the government has launched pmvbry.epfindia.gov.in and pmvbry.labour.gov.in portals, where companies can register.

Special for youth

Youths working for the first time will get a cash bonus equal to an average of one month’s salary, with a maximum limit of Rs 15,000.

  • This bonus will be given in two installments, provided the employee works for at least six months.
  • Those whose salary is up to Rs 1 lakh will be entitled to this benefit.
  • Those starting a job will have to create a Universal Account Number (UAN) through Face Authentication Technology (FAT) on the UMANG app.

Incentives for companies

  • Companies will get an incentive of up to Rs 3,000 per month on every new employee.
  • Special attention has been given to the manufacturing sector, where companies will get incentives for 4 years, while in other sectors this period will be 2 years.
  • This benefit will be available only if the employee stays on the job for at least 6 months.

Who can avail the benefit?

  • Companies with less than 50 employees will have to hire at least 2 new employees.
  • Companies with 50 or more employees will have to hire at least 5 new employees.
  • Institutions exempted from EPF & MP Act, 1952 are also included in this scheme. They will be required to create UAN for all employees and file ECR.

Why is this scheme special?

This scheme will not only provide financial help to the youth in their first job, but will also encourage companies to recruit new employees. New employment opportunities are expected to be created especially in the manufacturing sector. The government claims that this scheme will prove to be a big step in strengthening the country’s economy and reducing unemployment.
